The Meaning of the Qur’an is a fresh English rendering of Tafhim-ul-Qur’an, Maulana Syed Abu Ala Moududi’s monumental and masterly Urdu translation of the Qur’an and a selection of his commentary. The translator has undertaken the delicate and difficult task of rendering this work in English under the guidance of the Maulana himself. Here is a work with a difference, by a dedicated scholar of an entirely different sort. An immense wealth of profound understanding of the Qur’an is here, a vast treasure of knowledge and deep insight, and a valuable exposition of some social, political, economic and legal teachings of the Qur’an.
This comprehensive Tafsir answers contemporary questions, and makes the Qur’an fully relevant to the concerns of day, yet it loses nothing of its timelessness nor sacrifices any of the traditional understanding. It demonstrates the unity and coherence of the Qur’an by centring everything on its message, like gems hung on a single string.
This Tafsir is particularly suitable for Muslims with no direct access to the Arabic original.

I met Syed in 1963 first.
Asalamu’alaikum Brother Farooq, Masha’Allah, that’s so nice. We love his Tafseer and it is the one we use the most. He did a great deed for the Ummah and dedicated his life to this Tafseer. May Allah give him a high order in Jannah, Ameen.
As Salamu Alaykum. You should also read Tafsir Ibn Kathir. It is considered on of the best Tafsirs ever written.
Walaikum’asalam, Jazak’Allah Khair for your comment. You are right, Ibn Kathir’s (RA) Tafsir of the Noble Qur’an is one of the best and we have read it. It is also available on this site. We find for people who are looking for something easier to understand and navigate, Tafeem ul Qur’an is also excellent, Alhamdulillah. May Allah make it easy for us and open His Book and its meaning for all of us, Ameen. Please share with your loved ones, Insha’Allah.
Salaam Alaykum, we should also read Tafseer Ibn Kaseer in conjunction with this Tafseer. It will add to beneficial knowledge. Allah knows best
Great post! This was so helpful, jazakallah Khair.
Asalamu’alaikum, Wayyakum Sister. Please share with your loved ones, Insha’Allah.

This copy we were able to acquire, we were not able to find the list of topics. If you have them, please do forward them to us via email, and we will share them on the site, Insha’Allah. Jazak’Allah Khair.

Walailkum’asalam,

Is there any link to get all the surahs together?
Asalamu’Alaikum,
Jazak’Allah Khair for your message.
They do not come together, as they are split into a Surah by Surah format.
We are sure you could find softwares that could do this if your down laid them all onto your computer, Insha’Allah.
Very useful site. May Allah bless you. Aameen.
Please check the numbering in introduction to Surah Al-Baqarah. It needs corecction.
When copying from the pdf file, some parts of the sentences go missing or are misplaced.

This PDF was created using an automated reader from the original works, we believe. So, you may find that some English words or numbers can be slightly skewed at times. It isn’t too difficult to follow, but it can take a look or two before you realize what should be there.
We hope to find a better copy in the future or fix this one somehow, but until that time, this the best we have, Insha’Allah.
